Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 85

We are thrilled to have the STEM additions to our classrooms.  This year, it has helped my students excel in working through difficult situations.  I have notice that during struggles with their classwork, students pointing out that they are having to try again and persevere through thier work to do their best.  Even during our County Assessments, students have improved  their scores each time, but using the problem solving skills they have acquired throughout their problem solving situations involving our STEM material.  Thanks for the opportunities you have given our students.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Students will be introduced to 21st century skills of electronics, robotics and early programming.

What will be done with my students

Students will have opportunities to understand cause and effect, directional language, problem solving, spacial awareness and early programming using hands on materials. They will design and build with action-filled circuits and have a chance to experiment with light, sound, motion.

Benefits to my students

Students will have exposure to STEM topics that we currently are unable to give in a hands on fashion. The opportunities for problem solving will help in all areas of life as students grow and develop into more independent learners.

Describe the Students

We are currently a Title 1 school, with a high population of low socioeconomic families. We also have many ESE students receiving extra support from our Speech/Language, OT/PT, and VE programs. This year, we also have both visually impaired and deaf/hard of hearing students that participate in our general ed

Budget Narrative

Grant funds will be used to purchase materials to allow my first graders as well my team mates classes to be able to work hands on with learning about cause and effect, directional language, problem solving, spacial awareness and early programming . Using a hands on approach to allow all student the opportunity to learn these important STEM skills.
