Benefits to my students

The main objectives include:

1. Scholars will aspire to a lifelong path toward higher education and deeper learning that ends with a degree.

2. Scholars will further consider performing arts related fields.

3. Scholars will be prepared for college and career readiness.

Describe the Students

Melrose Elementary School has 442 scholars, of which 100 percent are economically disadvantaged. With a population of disenfranchised students, the need for after-school and extracurricular activities are paramount. Students who are not afforded opportunities for enriching after-school programs are at-risk of having underdeveloped background knowledge, communication and organizational skills. Melrose Elementary is eligible for Title 1 funds and if these students are not given an opportunity to visit post-secondary schools, improve their reading skills they are, as studies show, more likely to be truant and not complete school.
