Original Grant Overview

Goal

Education- College preparation for impoverised students to show them the importance of college and the path a college education can set them on.
Health and Health Care- to teach boys how to deal with years of adverse childhood experiences. Show them the way to an emotionally healthy place. 

 

What will be done with my students

College tours to FAMU and FSU in Tallahassee, FL. 90 minutes of Youth Development mentorship. In addition, African American Male mentors will address - police and community relations, developing healthy minds and bodies, social and emotional development skills, goal setting exercises for future success, parental incarceration, and discrimination. 

 

Benefits to my students

Renewed focus of our young men. Introduce the concept of college, its importance and how a college education can set them on a path out of poverty. Emotionally healthy ways to deal with the adverse childhood experiences.

10 students/ 3 chaperones from Lakewood Elementary
4 Elementary schools will share the bus for a total of 45 students and 9 chaperones
