Original Grant Overview

Goal

My students need 4 Dash Robots to use in the classroom and in an after-school STEM enrichment programfor learning about coding, engineering and robotics.

What will be done with my students

Imagine a classroom or an after-school program with robots moving around on the carpet as students work together in small groups using iPads to develop code and solve problems which would enable their robot to accomplish specific tasks, and challenges.

These robots are perfect for our elementary students and since many students are in the after-school STEM program, they would all have the opportunity to learn about robotics, coding and problem solving through STEM learning.

Benefits to my students

The Dash robots would allow students to have hands-on learning about coding, basic robotics and creative problem solving while integrating STEM curriculum and 21st century learning skills.

Describe the Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best second grade class in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do anything.

I teach at a Title I school in Florida where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school, because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

Budget Narrative

The monies will be used to purchase the 4 robots to be used in the classroom as well as in the after-school program.
