Goal

To have access to the Literacy Footprints resource kit for my ESOL readers in my classroom.

What will be done with my students

This kit will give me extra supplies to be able to successfully complete a Jan Richardson guided reading routine. This kit will used for every guided reading group. This kit has everything needed since ever reading has different components that are used.

Benefits to my students

These materials will give my ESOL students hands on materials at their finger tips during groups. My ESOL students will be able to learn letters and letter sounds by tactile means. They will be able to build words and match letters to a letter chart. They will also be able to practice writing sight words with the accompanying whiteboards and markers.

Describe the Students

I teach at a Title I school in Florida where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food on Friday just to make sure they have something to eat before the next week. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They LOVE to be in school because they want to learn all they can before becoming first graders.

My students walk into our classroom everyday full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.

The mix of students is very diverse. Some walk into the classroom knowing their letters and some have no knowledge of letters at all. I am always trying to find new ways to keep my students engaged. I want them to know that there are many ways to learn and that they can do anything.
