Goal

The goal of this project is to enhance the Math and reading curriculum for our 4th grade students!

What will be done with my students

These books will be used by students to read independently as well as in reading whole group and small group instruction. They can also be checked out to read at home.

The card and board games will be used during indoor as well as outdoor recess. My students are very excited about Math and learning new content these games will help keep that excitement alive throughout the year. The games will also be used during rotations/stations and partner work.

Benefits to my students

The card and board games will help students meet the math standards with 25 skill-building games and activities! Games motivate kids to play again and again, helping them develop automaticity in computation. Covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, averages, coordinate geometry, and more.

The humorous, reproducible math mystery stories will give my students a chance to have fun while practicing important math problem solving skills. They’re just perfect for classwork and homework and will help me meet the NCTM standards.

The math related books will get students excited about reading. Students will be able to pick their favorite quotes from the books and write them on the Wall Pop Message board.

Describe the Students

My students are my passion. I am extremely devoted to doing anything and everything I can to help them make learning gains. In addition, the students themselves desperately want to make learning gains and have opportunities to feel success and I truly feel the elements of these new books and games will help them to do it.

My students are part of a Title 1 School. All students at our school suffer from low income and high poverty. 100% of our students receive free lunch. We have a mixture of ESE and low and high performers. A high percentage of our students are also ESOL students.

We follow a tight standards focus calendar as we are considered a transformation school.
