Goal

My objective is that all of my students, regardless of financial inability to provide necessary supplies to maximize academic success, never are in want of essential supplies as the school year progresses.

What will be done with my students

Students will be instructed in all required areas of mathematics throughout the year. In order for a teacher to achieve maximum success, I believe that students should NEVER be without pencils, paper, math journals, erasers and all other necessary supplies that are used on a daily basis both at school and at home for homework and other projects.

Benefits to my students

Over my 10 year teaching career, I have noticed that many students without financial means and many other students who are under performers become embarrassed and are ashamed to ask me for loose leaf paper, a replacement binder that has worn out or broken, a journal that has been completed and needs to be replaced, even something as simple as an eraser. Every year I spend at least $800.00 out of my own pocket to assure these students never want for these necessary supplies. I feel this will immensely improve the mindset of these at risk pupils and hopefully give them the confidence needed for highest student achievement, knowing they will always be supplied with essential school supplies

Describe the Students

I am blessed with 6 wonderful classes this school year - 4 are considered advanced level and two are considered "V" classes - or lower level performing students. Of my students, 36 are level 1 or very low level 2 performers, and an additional 30 are level 3. I currently have 11 ESE students in the mix and at least 7 students who apparently have serious family concerns.
My school each year averages approximately 50% free lunch, and while all the forms have not yet been collected, I have no doubt this year will end up with similar results.

Budget Narrative

I expect to expend no less than the above amounts in addition to numerous other non reimbursable expenditures this year. I love my students as if they were my own family and will see to it that all have whatever they might need regardless of my personal cost.
