Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 76

We were able to recognize students for GPA improvement. For some, it was an incremental increase. However, most of our students are rarely recognized in anyway, so the gesture was much appreciated by them.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Our goal is to provide incentives for students to be motivated towards higher achievement and eventually graduation. For various reasons, the students I work with need more individualized attention as they strive to excel.

What will be done with my students

We would like to provide the students with materials they need to be successful in class so that they are not hindered by a lack of school supplies while trying to excel in school. Secondly, we also would like to reward students with snacks and/or lunch from time to time for small successes related to goals they have set for themselves.

Benefits to my students

This may encourage the students to avoid at-risk behaviors related to absenteeism, discipline referrals, etc. This will positively impact the students' overall educational experience because they will have higher achievement if they are present more often.

Describe the Students

The population we serve is about 20% of the students that attend BCHS. These students either have early warning indicators that point towards their potential to be an at-risk learner or are already deemed at-risk.

Budget Narrative

It is difficult to determine how much a pizza party would cost, but it will likely be more than the requested amounts by the end of the year. However, enough pizza that would allow for 2 slices a student would be ordered. The price of the snack is estimated using the price of a Lays box set on Walmart.com. Regarding the school supplies, items purchased will include: writing utensils, notebook paper, 3-ring binders, and notebooks.
