Goal

To meet each individual student's basic sensory needs so they each can learn, grow, and succeed in school and in the community. We will be specifically targeting students on the Autism Spectrum and other students with focus and processing needs.

What will be done with my students

The sensory tools purchased with the grant funds will go directly to the students to support their learning needs. Students will have direct access to these tools, which will be utilized to decrease their anxiety and increased their focus and time on task. These items also serve as tools to decrease injurious behaviors, which increases student safety.

Benefits to my students

By meeting each students basic sensory needs there will be an increase in academic engagement as well as increased social and emotional skills, which will lead to higher self-esteem and increased success. This grant aligns and supports our School Improvement Plan goals to increasing student achievement in our students with disabilities subgroup.

Describe the Students

We currently serve (4) classes of students on the Autism Spectrum, students with Varying Exceptionalities (VE), students with Speech and/or Language delays, as well as students with a 504 plan.
