Goal

In coordination with our PMAC, I would like to organize an empowering activity available to the ladies at ELMS AOE to tea party honoring women in history and STEM who have made an impact in our world today.

What will be done with my students

A morning tea "party", where 50-60 girls(who sign up on their own) attend the tea party in costume and with a 3 minute speech prepared to share the significance of their women in history/STEM.
I would like to have a keynote speaker from the community that can share their success story as a woman in STEM or community leader.

Benefits to my students

As a brand new school, I would love to start a tradition that we can build on each year. I would like to remind our ladies of the possibilities they have to make great change in our world especially in our STEM areas where they are often underrepresented. I believe this annual event would be something the ladies look forward to, a community builder and have motivational impact.

Describe the Students

At ELMS we have students of all abilities and levels including ESE and ESOL. There is no minimum GPA or test scores to be admitted to the academy, but once in our program, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Budget Narrative

I am requesting funds to get this activity started- with a tentative date in March for Women's History Month. Some of the items will be materials that we can use annually. In regards to the tea cups, I will look into collecting from our community and places like Good Will, but the money in the budget will help me purchase some sets to use annually. I will look into the community for donations for food items but the 75$ will be for scones, tea sandwiches and drinks for the ladies attending.

Items

# Item Cost

  Total: $302.00
