Goal

To motivate students to increase their reading level by one grade level or by 100 Lexile points by the end of the school year.

What will be done with my students

I want to order a class set (25) Scholastic magazines for next year (2016-2017) because they have high-interest articles around 1000 Lexile level to engage students and have Common-Core like questions.

The Daybooks I have do not meet Common-core standards and their articles are lower than 1000 Lexile Level. The Scholastic magazines will also help limit the amount of copies I make using educational sources found on the internet.

Benefits to my students

Students will be engaged in the high-interest colored articles and be practicing common-core like questions at the same time.

Describe the Students

I have mostly on-grade level performers and some level 2s. I have one class of advanced students. The Scholastic Scope magazines include questions for lower and advanced readers.
