Goal

As students design products they will be able to print in 3D to see the end result or to see how to improve/change their design. This printer would be another dimension to our STEM/Makerspace experiences.

What will be done with my students

Student will become inventors and design their inventions. Students will print prototypes on the 3D printer and see where adjustments can be made on future protoypes. They will be able make designs with movable parts. Students can also use their projects for art class to give them more deminison with the 3D printer.

Benefits to my students

Students will gain a deeper understanding the role of research and designing a product. Student will also have the opportunity to test out their own inventions by utilizing the 3D printer.

Describe the Students

The students who would benefit from this are currently in STEM and are very curious, inquisitive, and will to try anything. They are hungry for hand on learning and testing out their own ideas in a real life format. There currently are 27 girls and 13 boys. We are a low income school with free and reduced meals for all students. The students would be very grateful and appreciative for the printer and filament spools to be added to their STEM experience.

Budget Narrative

With this grant I would purchase the Dremel 3D printer and Dremel filament spools. All items relate to the STEM field and would enhance our STEM academies. The printer will be housed in the media center for use and expand awareness throughout the school.
