My goal is to promote mathematics literacy. I would like to create a classroom lab where the students will become confident in their ability to do math in a variety of settings and situations. By adding new computers that work and are reliable, I hope to help students gain an interest in online learning, using mathematics skills, improving their math test scores, and becoming constructive citizens.

Goal

My goal is to promote mathematics literacy. I would like to create a classroom lab where the students will become confident in their ability to do math in a variety of settings and situations. By adding new computers that work and are reliable, I hope to help students gain an interest in online learning, using mathematics skills, improving their math test scores, and becoming constructive citizens.

What will be done with my students

Computer learning programs (GradPoint), testing centers (FCAT/FSA/PERT), tutoring programs (Khan Academy, ThinkThroughMath), utilities (Scientific and Graphing Calculators), and access to math training courses are a few of the methods these computers will be utilized to help students improve themselves and their grades.

Benefits to my students

The computers will benefit the current student cohort, and many classes to come. Each classroom is limited to the number of computers available for the students, and this will give each student in the class access to a working and reliable source of learning and provide the tools needed to succeed at the courses they are striving to complete. All computers purchased will be appreciated and relieve the students of unneeded stress over basic functionality concerns when entering the classroom.

Describe the Students

Pinellas Gulf Coast Academy is a mid county educational alternative high school that focuses on blended learning by incorporating online learning to enhance traditional face-to-face methods. Students in these math classes are predominantly students with low math scores.

Budget Narrative

The items listed above are for the mathematics lab classroom and will be used to promote mathematics literacy. We are in great need of these computers. The students and teachers will greatly appreciate any help we are given.
