Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 850

The 5000 role models program is designed to support males students throughout Pinellas County schools.  It originally started as a program to focus on struggling African American males needing guidance and a carign adult, but it has been matriculated to support any male needing support.  The following desired outcomes:

 

Increase students academic performance/proficiency level in ELA and Math for grades 3-6

Increase graduation rate for high school males

Increase school daily attendance rate

Increase student social skills, self-esteem, and self-worth

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal is to provide benefits to my students which will increase graduation rate, improve attendance, and increase positive behaviors
 

 

What will be done with my students

Students will be matched with mentors from the community, teachers, and/or parents, and they will meet twice a month. During the session, students discuss academics, social media, leadership, student interest, and student behaviors. The main goal is to increase student’s academic performance, increase positive behaviors, and increase graduation rate by monitoring risks factors associated with at-risk students.

Describe the Students

Male students, particularly African American Male students who are in need of a mentor, academic support, and leadership skills. These students are prepared for career and life. 

 

Budget Narrative

These items will allow the students an opportunity to explore careers and colleges. All of the items in the budget support the low income, struggling at risk male.
