Our goal is to Increase awareness of of hunger in our community while learning to create and maintain a produce garden with plants and vegetables. This enviornmental community service project can be used towards students' volunteering community service hours pertaining to fututre scholorship endeavors.

What will be done with my students

Students will create a hydroponic garden and maintain the growth of plants, produce, or vegetables. Students will visit a homeless shelter near by and deliver their produce products for their use.

Benefits to my students

Students will become aware of homelessness and hunger in our community. They will have volunteer opportunities to develop empathy, problem solve, and create solutions to world wide life situations. Students will learn the science of producing and maintaining a garden as we seek information relating to hydroponics and plant growth.

Describe the Students

75% of our students are low performing academically, coming from low income enviornments in need of problem solving skills and community service participation. The volunteer hours will contribute towards scholarship participation where applicable. 33% are ESE and would increase their selfesteem by participating in hands on experiences.

Budget Narrative

The Green house would be used to produce, store, and maintain the garden.
The soils would be used to enrich the hydroponic system.
The plasic tubs and tubing will be used to support the plants and increase production.
