Goal

My goal is to provide attractive and efficient pieces to add to the student's interactive notebook that will help to solidify ideas and make sense of vocabulary words.

What will be done with my students

On a daily basis, students collect and organize information in their Interactive Notebook. This information is then used to complete assignments, as reference for debates, and to study for assessments. The notebook also includes a student-created dictionary for vocabulary words and a section for student-generated random questions.

Benefits to my students

Students create the pages with guidance from the teacher. They take ownership of the notebook, and therefore, the information as well. Unlike pages in a textbook, students can easily find the information they are looking for because they put it together in the first place.

Describe the Students

In our Title I school, 100% of the students receive free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In general, 20% of the students in each class are considered ESE or may be part of our Autism unit. Most students will start the year with a Reading level below a 3.

Budget Narrative

With these supplies, I will be able to provide composition books for students who are not able to get their own. We use colored pencils (provided by the school) very often, and an electric sharpener would be used to speed up the process of sharpening pencils. Colored index cards and construction paper add color to the Interactive Notebook. Studies show that relating ideas and words to color helps the brain retain and recall the information more easily.
