Goal

Our goal at Calvin Hunsinger School is to encourage and improve writing and reading. We would like to create a school wide newspaper ran by the students.

What will be done with my students

The students will be focusing on important world wide and local news to implement into our newspaper. Children will be given different responsibilities concerning the newspaper, including but not limited to: editing, photography, writing, and production and circulation.

Students will create a column for the newspaper each week. Depending on their topic will depend on the material and the research the student must perform. Each week a student will have a different column to write; this exposes the students to different types of writing.

Benefits to my students

This newspaper will benefit the students at Calvin immensely. The paper will increase the amount of meaningful writing and reading on a daily basis that a student will encounter. The students will also be impacted by the variety of social skills they come across when working together on the paper.

Describe the Students

Our students are low performing, ESE students. Clavin Hunsinger students are Emotional/Behavioral who lack the ability to create and maintain relationships with peers and adults.

Budget Narrative

Printing will need to be done outside of school to create the newspaper. The Paper will be needed to print the newspaper on. The camera will be needed to create pictures to make the newspaper appealing to the students. The stationary is needed for students to write, revise, and edit the articles.
