Goal

To provide off-track, at-risk students the opportunity to have access to technology and resources that will help them successfully recover credits, raise their GPA, and to prepare students for graduation and college.

What will be done with my students

My school currently does not have enough funds to supply the 150 students in credit recovery with graphing calculators. One of the highest failing subject areas (Algebra 2 specifically) is mathematics at my school. Students will have access to a class set of graphing calculators that they can use to recover their credits while also using that technolgoy to prepare themselves for standardized tests in high school and for college purposes. Students in credit recovery tend to also need support in passing either the ACT and/or PERT test for graduation and college preperation. In credit recovery, we do not have materials to help students prepare for ACT and/or PERT.

Benefits to my students

Students will be able to have access to technolgy that will allow them to complete their failed math courses approriately while using class time to also prepare themselves for required standardized tests for graduation and college.

Describe the Students

Over 90% of my students in credit recovery are African American and struggle to earn their math credits online. Over 60% of my students are labeled L35 in math, reading, or both. Approximately 30% of my students are labeled ESE. 10% of our senior students still need to pass either the Algebra 1 EOC or the PERT test, which is what I focus on.

Budget Narrative

If the calculators are too much, I can always change the quantity requested.
