We would like to raise funds to update our sound system so that every voice in the choir can be heard. Our current amplification system has a lot of feed back, and does not pick up the choir's sound, but only the few voices that are in front of the mics. This system also requires a second person to man it while the teacher conducts at the front, which is often difficult to secure.

Goal

We would like to raise funds to update our sound system so that every voice in the choir can be heard. Our current amplification system has a lot of feed back, and does not pick up the choir's sound, but only the few voices that are in front of the mics. This system also requires a second person to man it while the teacher conducts at the front, which is often difficult to secure.

What will be done with my students

We use amplification for various school events and after school clubs:
-Classes present a song per grade level for Hispanic Heritage Month
-The Choir sings for our Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Winter and Spring Concerts, and a special performance during Music in Our Schools Month
-We hope to add another whole-school performance at the end of the year as well.
We would like to have the system up and running by our Spring Concert on April 23rd, 2020, when our 40-member choir will present its last performance. And ready, also, for an end-of-the-year performance for each grade level (approximately 700 students spread out in six performances).

Benefits to my students

It is so encouraging to be heard. This is most true with respect to singing. Students will know that the work put in during class and rehearsals will be worthwhile because it will be heard by an audience. This will also lead to students receiving encouragement from family and friends, increasing their chances of remaining in music programs throughout the county.

Budget Narrative

The items in the budget include new speakers, a digital mixer (this will allow me, the teacher, to control sound from the front of the room, and not have to run around to the mixer every time there is a problem with the sound), condenser mics (they pick up all voices, not just the two or three in front of the mic), and the cables and stands to set the system up.
