Goal

I am hoping to purchase a fun and engaging science resource called Generation Genius. Generation Genius is a K-8 teaching resource that brings school science standards to life through fun and educational videos. These videos are paired with lesson plans, activities, quizzes, reading material and much more. The videos are produced in partnership with the National Science Teaching Association, and aligned to state standards. I was able to use the free version of the program, last year, in my physical and distant learning classrooms and students remained engaged in science learning with the help of this wonderful tool.  

What will be done with my students

In addition to the district provided science curriculum, Generation Genius will be used to help engage students with modern and up to date videos that contain real world connections to science and hands on experiments, discussion questions, vocabulary, reading material and wonderful review quizzes (that my previous students absolutely loved). Not only do the videos have the real world connection, each video provides a hands on experiment that students can witness and learn from. This is a great benefit at a time where we are unable to perform our own hands on activities.  

Benefits to my students

The benefits to providing Generation Genius to all of our students starts with science learning becoming more exciting and engaging, especially during this difficult time of distant learning and social distancing. This resource will help students establish a strong science foundation and show a higher level a content mastery from kindergarten up. This means there will be less gaps to fill in along the way and especially for 5th grade teachers as they prepare to give EOY State Science Assessments. Generation Genius will also help our students be better prepared for their future science education. 

Budget Narrative

This project amount will provide a 1 year subscription for all school teachers with an unlimited amount of student links for an unlimited amount of devices. With the subscription teachers will have access to standards based videos (that include closed captions for ELL students), 5E lesson plans, reading materials, diy hands on activities, exit tickets, online kahoot quizzes and so much more.
