Goal
To make the field trip financially accessible to our students and to truly connect what we are learning in social studies to the real world. It specifically relates to standard S.S.4.A.3.3 Identify the significance of St. Augustine as the oldest permanent European settlement in the United States.
SS.4.A.2.1: Compare Native American tribes in Florida.
What will be done with my students
We will be taking a tour of the historic Castillo De San Marcos, Tour of The Old Jail, Tour of the Fountain of Youth (This is the site of a 4,000 year old native village as well as the site of the first Spanish Settlement in Florida. As well as a reconstructed Timucuan Village.)
Benefits to my students
Many of my students have never been to a historically significant location or outside of Volusia County. This trip would not only have academic significance but would be socially enriching for them.
Budget Narrative
These funds would be able to partionally sponsor several students so that instead of the full $65 cost of the trip with transportation, they will have the tour tickets covered and will only have to pay the transportation portion of the cost.
