Goal

As a school psychologist my goal is always to help our students realize their worth and strength while overcoming obstacles. I know that a small gesture of kindness can have such a strong impact on someone and that a person's mental health can always be strengthened. With this project my specific goal is to remind students that they are wonderful and important. I would like to provide these silicone bracelets to 2 of the elementary schools currently assigned to. I would also ask for the the other elementary school, but they already have them which is where I received the idea. I would like to pass these out to students and staff at Indian River Elementary and Horizon Elementary Schools. If this project is funded I would be to share my success with my department peers so that they have the opportunity to access the same experience. 

What will be done with my students

My mission directly aligns with Florida Standard SP.PK12.US.19.7b which is for students to demonstrate self-esteem, self-confidence, and pride, such as through self-affirmations, persistence, and self-monitoring. 

Benefits to my students

The benefits are for students to learn what a self-affirmation is and the importance of reviewing them daily. By reading the self-affirmations on their bracelet this will increase their self-esteem, self-confidence, and pride. When they are having a hard time these affirmations can help them self-monitor in order to problem solve an effective resolution. 

Budget Narrative

Once the bracelets are received I would meet with the school counselors and administrators to have them best determine how they would like to ensure all students and staff have the opportunity to take one.
