My goal is to provide the students with costumes and props so that they can put on an amazing show for the community and school. If the students have props and costumes I believe it will give them the confidence that they need to bring the "Beauty and the Beast Jr" musical to life. In addition, without costumes and props it would not be possible to perform an elaborate show such as a musical.

Goal

My goal is to provide the students with costumes and props so that they can put on an amazing show for the community and school. If the students have props and costumes I believe it will give them the confidence that they need to bring the "Beauty and the Beast Jr" musical to life. In addition, without costumes and props it would not be possible to perform an elaborate show such as a musical.

What will be done with my students

The students will be performing Beauty and the Beast Jr. Preparation for the musical begins in September. From September to March students will stay after school 1-3 times a week to prepare for the show. Each week students will be learning lines, singing, and acting out scenes using costumes and props.

A big part of the music curriculum is teaching students the importance of performance etiquette, reading and understanding sheet music, learning musical concepts through dancing/ movement, musical expression, and learning how music can be connected to other subjects which will be achieved in the participation of the musical.

Students who do not perform in the musical benefit as well because they get to watch the students perform the musical at school. The students get to experience what it is like to be an audience member in a prepared performance.
