Goal

As a Society for Science Advocate, the goal I want to accomplish with this club is to increase the desire for science, expand scientific investigations, ignite research desire, and develop critical thinking while performing hands-on exploration among middle school students. To increase motivation, self-efficacy, and science inquiry that can lead students to an interest in STEM careers and undergraduate studies.  

What will be done with my students

The club will provide a fun and interactive environment for students to engage in various scientific activities, experiments, and hands-on labs that lead to open discussions, enhancing their understanding of the world. This includes field trips to nature reserves, laboratories, and science centers to expose students to real-world scientific applications. Motivate and guide unrepresented students to science fairs where they can showcase their individual or group projects, encouraging creativity and innovation. Screen scientific documentaries or movies followed by discussions, allowing students to explore complex scientific concepts in a relatable manner and, through the years, engage in collaborative projects that contribute to real scientific research, connecting students to larger scientific communities. 

Benefits to my students

With the implementation of this club, all students will have the opportunity to ignite scientific studies regardless of science education level, economic status, or English proficiency. Unrepresented and diverse students who may not see options in scientific fields will now engage in real engagement through experimentation, leading to creating interest in STEM subjects for future careers, beginning next year's science fair investigations, or continue developing a scientific research investigation that can reach a higher level of competitions such as ISEF national fair. Students will benefit when the importance of science in the workforce, the planet, and the future can be demonstrated to increase self-efficacy. As a Science Teacher and Doctoral degree student, I aim to impact student life by providing the tools to increase their opportunities in the future and guide them through science research in an enjoyable away from the regular classroom into the different experimentations outside the school.

These lab kits are based on current prices. There may be various kits based on availability.
