Original Grant Overview
Goal
Using an established area in our ESE wing, our students with disabilities will work to create an eatable garden throughout the school year.
What will be done with my students
Students from our intermediate EBD program will be responsible for planting, tending and maintaining their garden boxes throughout the school year. The planting aspects will be tied into their science curriculum.
Benefits to my students
Working together for a positive and successful outcome is a focus of our EBD program. Along with the social aspects, students will be reinforcing their academic standards:
Plants Growth and Life Cycle Unit Topic 4 Florida B.E.S.T. Science Standards covered SC.3.L.14.1, SC.3.L.14.2, SC.3.L.17.2, photosynthesis, plants energy, adaptations, reproduction, pollination, life cycle, parts, functions, plant structures, and more.
The gardening area created through this grant will also allow students to have a sense of ownership, shared responsibility, and pride in their progress throughout the year.
