To continue the color coded PE apporach by incorporating throwing, catching and kicking objects. We will use the cones that were purchased last year to color code stations. I'm requesting color coded equipment (soccer, basketball, pickelball paddles and volleyballs) to go with the cones to create stations or centers. Students will participate in color coded throwing and catching activities to increase ability to accurately throw, catch, strike, kick and use an implement to move an object.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To continue the color coded PE apporach by incorporating throwing, catching and kicking objects. We will use the cones that were purchased last year to color code stations. I'm requesting color coded equipment (soccer, basketball, pickelball paddles and volleyballs) to go with the cones to create stations or centers. What will be done with my students

To reach several PE standards: PE.K.C.2.2, PE.1.C.2.2, PE.2.C.2.2, PE.3.C.2.2, PE.4.C.2., PE.5.C.2. know how to strike moving objects with body parts and implements as well as: PE.4.M.1.2-1.5 strike an object so that it goes in the intended direction with desired speed.
PE.K.M.1.2-1.5, PE.K.C.2.2, PE.1.M.1.2-1.5, PE.1.C.2.2, PE.2.M.1.2-1.5,PE.2.C.2.2 know how to strike stationary objects with body parts and implements, know how to strike moving objects with body parts and implements, identify the importance of striking with body parts/implements, strike an object continuously with a paddle or racquet, recognize the concept of a dominant hand/foot for striking, dribble an object while maintaining control.

Benefits to my students

Color coding will streamline the process of finding areas to play, keep track of materials and equipment and help students stay organized with the materials in a large area. It will also allow for differentiation by ability and skill. Special needs students can form teams and easily navigate the large area of PE by limiting opportunities for frustraction and confusion.
