Goal
My goal is to make learning about decimals more fun and interactive. (See below for related standards.)
What will be done with my students
Students will get hands-on activities to assist with the following 5th grade standards:
MA.5.NSO.1.2: Read and write multi-digit numbers with decimals to the thousandths using standard from, word form, and expanded form.
MA.5.NSO.1.4: Plot, order, and compare multi-digit numbers with decimals up to the thousandths.
I will have the items to use in years to come. Decimals are a huge part of the 5th grade math curriculum.
Benefits to my students
Students will use the card games and dice in small, collaborative groups to enhance their learning about decimals in a fun way. The white boards will be used in whole and small groups to show me what they know and practice place value concepts with decimals. I am departmentalized, so more than just my class will benefit from these items.
