Recently, we received our 4 service caps and 4 harnesses to support our Mainland HS AFJROTC Color Guard teams. The cadets wore them for the first time this past Friday the Daytona International Speedway Motorcycle Flat Track races. They looked great and they were filmed by FOX Sports to be replayed on TV the following week.

Five different teams of cadets perform color guards at numerous community service events to include: Orlando Magic; 2 events at the Ocean Center; a few hotels; many football games and s=other school events; and the speedway. We typically perform at least 30 color guards a year, many in front of hundreds to thousands of people. The cadets look extremely sharp and were very excited to wear the new caps. The harnesses look great and are no longer frayed or discolored.

What will be done with my students

Cadets will present the colors at over 35 civic and school events throughout central Florida. They must prepare in advance and ensure they show up a the designated time.
Benchmark: SS.8.CG.2
Evaluate the roles & rights & responsibilities of U.S. Citizens & determine methods of active participation in society.

Benefits to my students

Cadets must attend quarterly training, properly clean and wear their uniform, and then show up at the appropriate time for the color guard. We present the colors at events to include the Daytona Speedway races and the Orlando Magic. We also present the colors at numerous civic and school events. We have been on national TV numerous times.

Budget Narrative

We use Glendale to order all our military items. Costs were derived from pages 67 and 83 in the current Glendale price guide. Our gear is very old, worn out-frayed, and faded.
