Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 150

With the microphones we were able to put on a spectacular production of The Little Mermaid Jr.! This was our first musical production at our school and our first production with body pack microphones. This helped our students be heard everywhere in our cafetorium. The parents that were seated towards the back could even hear them! It took our produciton to the next level.

Thank you to everyone who donated!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To bring new microphones to our stage/performances so the audience can hear our actors/actresses no matter where they sit.

What will be done with my students

Students will perform scenes, musicals, and plays on the stage. Students will perform on stage during the school day as well as after school for an audience. Having the proper microphone equipment will allow performances to be heard no matter where an audience member is sitting in the auditorium. Students will also learn about the microphone equipment that is used in a professional theater. They will learn to properly use and put on body microphones.
TH.68.S.2.1 Discuss the value of collaboration in theatre and work together to create a theatrical production.
TH.68.S.2.4 Memorize and present a character's lines from a monologue or scene.
TH.68.O.3.3 Discuss the collaborative nature of theatre and work together to create a scene or play, respecting group members' ideas and differences.
TH.68.F.1.2 Use vocal, physical, and imaginative ideas, through improvisation, as a foundation to create new characters and write dialogue.
TH.68.F.3.1 Practice safe, legal, and responsible use of copyrighted, published plays to show respect for intellectual property and the playwright.
TH.68.O.2.4 Perform a scene or pantomime to demonstrate understanding of blocking and stage movement.

Benefits to my students

Currently, we have 4 hanging microphones on our stage. They are not powerful enough to pick up everything that is said on the stage. These microphones will help enhance the student's lines/songs. Everyone in the audience will be able to hear the students that are on stage. Students will also learn about the professional sound equipment that is used in theaters everywhere.
