The CDA certification gives students the proper accreditation to work in a licensed childcare facility once completed with high school. This rigorous certification program is an essential part of our Teaching, Education and Learning Academy. Unfortunately, there is only one book available in the classroom which is needed to prepare for this certification. Our goal is to purchase a class set (of 30 each) of the two books to be used year after year, certifying students in becoming skilled workers in our local pre-schools.

What will be done with my students

Students in the junior and senior level of TEAL Academy courses (Early Childhood Education 3/4) will using these books on a daily basis to complete projects, learning experiences and developmentally appropriate practices.

Standards impacted include Early Childhood Education 3 (22.01-31.03) and Early Childhood Education 4 (32-42.04)

Benefits to my students

Currently, students are sharing one book. Copies of the needed material are often made, but in no way can supplement the entire book.

Students will benefit by having the resource at hand, at any time to complete the requirements of the CDA. This will ultimately increase pass rates for this industry certification.

Budget Narrative

Although ideally we would have a classroom set of 30 of each book, we would be grateful for 6 workbooks (which would be re-used year after year) and 10 books (which is the more important resource material).
