The goal is for students and parents to engage in a maker’s space environment in which they apply a new approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry and critical thinking. This STEAM inspired evening will familiarize families with STEAM through various centers, including (but not limited to) magnetic doodles, color mixing tops, and building an artificial reef.

Benefits to my students

The STEAM Night will prepare our students for tomorrow's careers and show families just how fun and easy it is to engage in experiential learning. The centers will promote the arts and encourages students to make thoughtful risks, collaborate, and work through the creative process.

Budget Narrative

The magnetic sheets, iron fillings, and squeeze bottles are for the magnetic doodles center. They are reusable materials, so they will get used many times! Colored paper is also required for this activity however i already have it. The color mixing tops will use cereal boxes, the paint, and toothpicks to build. Again, I already have paint brushes and the cardboard so there is no expense for those parts. The play dough, pasta, beads, pipe cleaners will be used for the artificial reef. This is a make and take for families. I will also provide materials for students to create fish to place within the reef when they are done.
