Goal

My goal is to teach students to cook using the Cooking to Learn curriculum. The curriculum uses pictures with words in teaching making the recipes understandable and easy to make. Cooking for 26 consistent weeks (one a week) using recipes the Multi-Varying Exceptional students will be able to comprehend the directions and cook. 

 

What will be done with my students

The goal is to teach students to read recipes for the purpose of planning, shopping, and cooking. Each student will be able to follow the pictures/words using step by step instructions to purchase the cooking items on a Community Based Instruction trips to Walmart or Publix. Students will also plan their trip searching prices online for best values.

Benefits to my students

Students will learn to plan, purchase, and cook their own foods. With consistent weekly lessons using the Cooking to Learn Curriculum, they will understand that cooking is a process and at the end there is a satisfying reward. Benefits include independent living. 

 

Budget Narrative

The 26 weeks of cooking using one curriculum a week total cost is 301.12. Each item has been researched finding the lowest price available at Walmart/Great Value Brand when possible. Prices reflect August 29, 2019 date. A complete list of each food is saved in Word if needed, also each recipe curriculum is saved. As well, several foods are listed two or three times due to using the same ingredients in different recipes.
