My students are chomping at the bit to find out more about Historical Non-Fiction Topics! I want to have a classroom library with as many resources as possible so the students can explore, discover, and enhance their reading skills by selecting topics that interest them that are on their reading level! My goal is to purchase as many of the New York Times Best-Selling Series "Who Was...." or "What Were...." books to add to my classroom library.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 85

Thank you so much to the donors that have funded my project!  When the books arrived on Friday (September 23)  the kids acted like it was Christmas morning!  They started asking if they could start reading them!  I have never seen so many kids excited about nonfiction literature!. The students will be able to do research, create presentations, read for AR points that are on their lexile reading level, and just find out new facts about people and events from our history!   This project could not have been completed without your help. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My students are chomping at the bit to find out more about Historical Non-Fiction Topics! I want to have a classroom library with as many resources as possible so the students can explore, discover, and enhance their reading skills by selecting topics that interest them that are on their reading level! My goal is to purchase as many of the New York Times Best-Selling Series "Who Was...." or "What Were...." books to add to my classroom library.

What will be done with my students

Students will have access to check out a variety of historical non-fiction topics right from my own classroom! Not only can they can use these books for personal enjoyment, but they can also be used as a source for projects, presentations, and more! Students reading levels will soar as they have more options for self-select reading.

Benefits to my students

The students will have access to more historical non-fiction books by having some of these books from the series in my classroom. Reading levels should improve, student engagement in their self-selected reading should improve, and the topic for class discussions about what we have learned and discovered will also be beneficial.

Budget Narrative

This budget covers 35 different historical non-fiction texts found on Amazon.com. I am a member of Amazon Prime so shipping is free for me.
