Goal

Students in orchestra will play popular/rock music in an authentic way with electric instruments.

What will be done with my students

Throughout the year orchestra students are learning about popular/rock music and all that goes in to being in a band. Studying rock/popular music gives an enormous boost to their classical skills and techniques.
Students will use the instrument pickups to complete their transformation from an acoustic to electric ensemble.
Students will learn to be in a band and to perform in an authentic manner.
At the end of the year, students will put on a concert for their peers/ community.

Benefits to my students

Research shows that students are more likely to continue playing "their" music after graduation rather than joining a classical ensemble. Students will gain valuable knowledge to continue playing and performing after high school and truly be life-long music lovers.
