Goal

The goal is to provide quality, indoor, small group activities for students to participate in when it is raining on their PE day. These activities can enhance and compliment the activities that are done outside and can be used any time it is raining as the skills are those that are needed in a variety of games and sports.

What will be done with my students

My PE program is in need of small group activities that can be used indoors during rainy days. These activites need to be high interest and low-noise activities so as not to distrub the classroom next door. By providing small group activities, the noise level can be kept at a minimum, but still be fun and interesting for the students. I am looking to purchase Beanbag Game Mats, Bucketball games, and a GoBig ball. This equipment will allow students to work on a variety of athletic skills such as tossing, catching, hitting, aiming at and hitting a specific target, and eye-hand coordination, along with social skills such as teamwork, good sportsmanship, and decision making. These activities will also allow for differentiation within the classroom. The equipment can be used for years to come, and additional activites can be created or played using this same equipment. In addition, mental math skills can be practiced using the different mat activities.

Benefits to my students

The activities/equipment can be used with all three grade levels, and activities can be differentiated for skill levels and grade levels. Students will have fun, interesting, motiviating activities to keep them busy while working on skills, and hopefully, lessen the disappointment of having PE indoors due to bad weather.

Budget Narrative

A variety of jumbo vinyl mats with their respective beanbags will be purchased, along with 2 bucketball games that include 3 different types of balls, and a GoBig ball (40" diameter). Several activities can be played in small groups at one time, and the equipment can accomodate two PE classes at a time.
