Goal

To bring practical hands-on experiences into the classroom by adding memorable lab experiences for the whole school year.

What will be done with my students

These supplies will cover all costs associated with second grade standard-based labs tying into the reading standards and text. Students use math, science and literacy skills to engage in science experiments. We will cover earth sciences such as weather, water cycle, and erosion, Physical Science, such as states and properties of matter, Life Sciences such as life cycles of plants and animals and animal adaptations, and Nature Science that allow the students to explore the word through experiments structured in the standards. The materials purchased from this grant will allow the stocking of the basic materials needed to perform these experiments and activities.

Benefits to my students

This will provide a hands-on learning opportunity, student-centered exploratory processes which enhance the year's curriculum. With limited supplies, students have to share and get limited access to the process of the experiments. With more access to supplies, it allows students with an affinity for STEM shine and those who are more reluctant learners engage with a new experience.

Budget Narrative

This grant will benefit all 2nd grade classes with approx. 200 students. It is to supply all scientific experiments for the 2nd grade for the whole school year.
