What will be done with my students

Each month, we will feature a different pop-up museum from the Mel Fisher collection. Each museum includes eight individual 33"x72" free-standing exhibit panels and stands, which will be set up around the library. Throughout the year, we will spotlight different grade levels and content areas to participate in these exhibits.

Students will engage in standards-aligned tasks such as:

Analyzing charts, maps, and timelines to understand the impact of the Spanish Empire on Florida's history.
Creating digital presentations and podcasts to explore how science helps us uncover the mysteries of shipwrecks from the past.
Participating in a variety of other engaging activities tailored to the different topics presented by each exhibit.

Benefits to my students

Student benefits include, but are not limited to:
1. Enhanced Engagement
2. Critical Thinking Skills

Budget Narrative

1. Pop-Up Museum Shipping and Handling Fees
The Mel Fisher Pop-Up Museum program offers a variety of archived pop-up museums that will be hosted at the school. Each museum exhibit will be aligned with the History, Science, and English curriculum, providing an immersive learning experience for students.
Cost Breakdown:
Shipping and Handling Fee: $150 per museum
Number of Museums: 8 (one per month)
Total Cost: $150 x 8 = $1,200

Educational Alignment: Each pop-up museum will be hosted monthly to correlate with the specific curriculum areas (History, Science, and English). This alignment ensures that the exhibits are relevant to the students' current studies, enhancing their understanding and engagement with the material.

Skill and Standard Concentration: By hosting these exhibits monthly, we can focus on the skills and standards needed to improve our State and District assessment scores. The interactive nature of the exhibits will help reinforce key concepts and provide hands-on learning opportunities.

Enhanced Learning Outcomes: The pop-up museums will provide a dynamic and engaging way to present educational content, making learning more enjoyable and effective. This approach is expected to lead to better retention of information and higher academic performance.
