Goal

To acquire a versatile server that will serve as a critical resource for backup testing, cybersecurity, and network security courses. This server will enhance our educational capabilities by providing hands-on experience with real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of data protection, threat mitigation, and network defense strategies. By integrating this server into our curriculum, we aim to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving fields of cybersecurity and network security. 

What will be done with my students

With the new server, students will have a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities, including:

Backup Testing:

Simulate Backup and Restore Processes: Practice creating, managing, and restoring backups to ensure data integrity and availability.
Disaster Recovery Drills: Conduct drills to prepare for data loss scenarios and develop effective recovery strategies.
Cybersecurity:

Penetration Testing: Perform ethical hacking exercises to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in a controlled environment.
Incident Response: Simulate cyber-attacks and practice responding to security breaches, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
Security Audits: Conduct audits to evaluate the security posture of systems and networks, and recommend improvements.
Network Security:

Network Configuration and Management: Set up and manage network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Intrusion Detection and Prevention: Implement and monitor intrusion detection systems (IDS) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) to safeguard networks.
Secure Network Design: Design and deploy secure network architectures, incorporating best practices for segmentation and access control.
These activities will help students gain practical experience and build confidence in their ability to handle real-world cybersecurity and network security challenges.
