Goal

The goal for all of the first grade classes at YPS is to educate our students about owls.

What will be done with my students

Students will participate in a hands-on presentation from the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. The zoo will make a presentation to all students on campus at YPS. The presentation will educate the students about various birds and their adaptations. The focus will be on owls and their prey. After the presentations, students will dissect owl pellets in the classroom. The presentation and owl pellets will be a one time experience. The owl pellet mats are reusable and can be used for several years.

Benefits to my students

This grant will benefit 13 classes which is approximately 200 students. The students will learn about owls in an engaging way and have fun exploring the owl pellets.

Budget Narrative

Owl pellets and mats will be purchased from Carolina Biological.
