Goal

The goal of this project is to provide multi sensory tools to aid in the sight word instruction and progression, with the goal that students achieve mastery, increase fluency and comprehension.  

What will be done with my students

These resources will be distributed to each first grade teacher at the Southside Campus to use with their students. These resources will aid in the instruction of sight words as we take on a phonics based progression with Dolch and Fry word instruction. The tools will provide multi sensory approach with supports research tied to relation and retention of sight words, as sight words compose a large majority of texts students are exposed to.  

Benefits to my students

The goal is to be able to reach all learners with more resources in the implementation of sight word instruction in hopes to meet students where they are at, and building from there with any gaps or higher progression for students.  

Budget Narrative

The Hand to Mind Sight/Heart Word Reading Rods provide a multisensory approach to provided support for all learners.
The Snap words will be used as a differentiation tool as an added layer of support for learners.
The Child First Publications Sound Cards will provide a scaffold to sight word instructions to aid with the progression.
