Goal

Students will be exposed to high interest, engaging non fiction texts with Scholastic Scope. The students will use skills learned in class to analyze the text to gain a deeper understanding.

What will be done with my students

Students will read and complete a variety of activities related to the monthly selections in Scholastic Scope. Students will receive 8 editions of the magazine to read and analyze, these activities will be stretched out over a week to gain maximum learning from each magazine. We will work with the BEST standards to make sure the magazine is used to the fullest extent.

Benefits to my students

Students will be exposed to high-interest, engaging topics and news articles current to our times. The students will become more aware of current events and noteworthy historic events and gain a deeper understanding of them. Scholastic Scope will be available to all 6th graders at FBMS, 250 students.
