Goal

To better prepare our students for the science FSA each year by letting them use headphones and the approved FLDOE calculators throughout the school year.  

What will be done with my students

The requested items will be permanently implemented in the classroom to help meet the Florida NGSS standards, support STEM, used on calculations of force, density, speed, and velocity problems. Calculators will also benefit students in solving problems requiring conversions with scientific notation, astronomical units and light-year problems.
The calculator storage pockets will be useful for the student identification of each calculator to hold the students accountable for any damage.
During valuable computer time, for example on the Brain Pop website, students will be able to work at their own pace and focus without distractions from other student's sound using their headphones.
 

Benefits to my students

There will be no need for the students to use their phones as calculators on a daily basis during the mathematical computations, thus minimizing potential distractions. The students will also have a better understanding of how to use the calculators so not to waste their valuable test taking time during the FSA.
The calculator storage pocket will save instructional class time to help with the distribution of the calculators.
The classroom set of headphones will enable both student and teacher to utilize technological resources to further understanding. This will also allow for differentiated instruction throughout the classroom.
Alcohol prep pads will keep the headphones sterile for all students throughout the day. 

Budget Narrative

60 count TI-30Xa Scientific Calculators (2 classroom sets to disperse between 6-8 grades), 2 count storage pockets, 60 count headphones (2 classroom sets to disperse between 6-8 grades)
