Goal

This grant would allow all students to have access to scientific calculators to use for complex mathematical problem solving.

What will be done with my students

In Algebra and Geometry classes, students tackle complex math problems every day. Scientific calculators are an essential tool to solve these problems.

Lesson plans will be created involving the use of the calculator to further enhance the benefits to the students. Students will be taught the mathematical concepts first, taught how to set up and solve the problems manually and then taught how to use tools to quickly find solutions to higher level mathematical problems.

Benefits to my students

Many students are not able to afford a scientific calculator and as a result struggle with some of concepts taught in Algebra and Geometry. Others use a wide variety of calculators. A classroom set will allow me to provide consistent direction to all and will allow those that could not otherwise afford a calculator to experience problem solving at higher level.

Budget Narrative

In today's classrooms, access to current technology is extremely important. I am requesting funds for the for the purchase of a class set of Texas Instrument Scientific Calculators. They will be used in my Algebra 1 and Geometry classes to aide the students in solving more complex math problems.
