Goal

To increase computer science at the elementary level through the implementation of a 4th-5th grade coding club.

What will be done with my students

Students will learn how to create code to program Dash, a robot that will respond to voice commands, navigate objects, dance, and sing. Through apps such as Wonder and Blockly, students will learn to create new behaviors for Dash. As the brains of a robot, Dot is programmed with several games where students can see coding in action. Through coding instruction, students will be able to create new games for Dot to play.

Benefits to my students

Students will learn the core principles of computer science by using skills in coding, problem solving, collaboration, communication, and innovation. Access to coding at the elementary level will provide a stepping stone to the rapidly expanding world of STEM careers.
