Goal

To receive 30 "Touching Spirit Bear" novels to teach to my class.

What will be done with my students

This novel will be the focus of a literature unit toward the end of the year.

Benefits to my students

By studying Touching Spirit Bear, students may be able to identify and work through their own anger, bitterness or resentment from personal events—at home, school, or in their communities—where they have been in need of healing and forgiving, as well as possibly needing to be forgiven for hurt they’ve caused themselves. Ultimately this book may also outfit students for the opportunity to learn the pathways and possibilities to the freedom of employing acts of forgiveness and engaging in the reconciliation of relationships. Doing so would allow the social and emotional state necessary to better benefit from their schooling and positive life experiences.
