Nassau Education Foundation

Purchase music for the school year 2016-17.
This grant would make up a large part of the music purchased for the school year. Music is very expensive and is the main tool used in an instrumental music classroom. Music can be reused, but new music helps keep the instruction fresh and relevant.

Goal

Purchase music for the school year 2016-17.
This grant would make up a large part of the music purchased for the school year. Music is very expensive and is the main tool used in an instrumental music classroom. Music can be reused, but new music helps keep the instruction fresh and relevant.

What will be done with my students

Student will use the music in instruction as well as for public performance.
The music selected here represents many different cultures and styles which will allow for student exposure to various cultures.
Some of the music will be used with the chorus & drama programs in combined patriotic performances & Yultide performances. These performance are attended by the student body of FBMS as well as community members.

Benefits to my students

This will free up money from student fair-share and fund raising to be used for larger ticket items that are needed. Instruments are very expensive and our program is in need of replacing many aging instruments over the next few years.
With this music being performed at public events, many students and community members will be exposed to it.

Budget Narrative

The band program receives $2000 per year from the county for instrument purchase/repair.
All other funds are raised through fair-share payments made by students and student fundraising.
The amount raised + the money from NCSB does not come close to meeting the needs of a band program.
We are constantly exploring other means of funding such as this.
