Goal

The goal is to engage students in reading both fiction and non-fiction in a format other than tradition books.

What will be done with my students

Students will read in small groups or with a partner various fiction and non-fiction stories. They will also learn the techinical skill of using an e-reader. The use of the e-reader will encourage all students to become engaged in reading. Once students become proficient with the e-readers they can then be used daily as part of the reading centers.

Benefits to my students

Using the e-reader will excite students that may not be as excited to read a traditional book. The voice over will allow the e-reader to read to students which will benefit students that struggle with independent reading and it will also benefit all readers in the areas of fluency and vocabulary development.

Budget Narrative

The total cost (including tax) of the e-readers from amazon would total approximately $640.00. The remaining $360.00 would be used to order books from amazon that included the whispersync option in order to have the read aloud capability.
