Goal

To expose young people to possible aerospace careers--especially those they may not have envisioned.

What will be done with my students

The students will travel to Pensacola to spend a day and night "aboard" the CVT-11 "Ambition" aircraft carrier simulator. They will participate in a simulated humanitarian mission.

Benefits to my students

Students will be taught lessons by certified STEM instructors covering a variety of topics that will help them in any high-tech or aerospace career path. They will learn teamwork as well as self-reliance.

Budget Narrative

CVT-11 "Ambition" Field Trip, 23-25 September 2015.

As part of an effort to get young people excited about an aerospace career, Fernandina Beach High School established a course in Aerospace Technologies for the 2013-2014 school year. Each year we have proposed a trip to the National Flight Academy's CVT-11 "Ambition." After two years of little student-interest, we met with an overwhelming response in 2015.

CVT-11 "Ambition" is a state-of-the-art, four-story, one hundred thousand square foot building that simulates an aircraft carrier. Students are taught subjects from global navigation to atmospherics/weather, from air traffic control and coordination to flight operations (using full-size aircraft simulators).

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in an aerospace career. But due to a better-than-anticipated response we have a budget shortfall. We are requesting funding for five students' program costs to help make up most of the deficit.

It would be a shame to turn away such bright and enthusiastic young men and women. Your contribution can provide them with a start to a meaningful and rewarding career in the aerospace field.

Thank you for your support.
