Goal

The goal of this grant is to empower 8th grade Advanced Drama students in the complete One Act play production process.  

What will be done with my students

Students will be assembled in acting communitites and will choose a script for their troupe. They will be responsible for choosing a director, producer, stage manager, lighting/sound technician, and acting roles. Students (under the direction of the teacher), will block, direct, create scenery, determine costumes and create a performance calendar. When the play is ready for production, the producer will video tape the performance with a live audience. The recordings will be used as a teaching tool and actor critiques. 

Benefits to my students

Students will have the advantage of working with new script materials, and current technology with teacher facilitation. They will be allowed to take charge of all aspects of creating a production in every stage of its inception. In addition, being able to record rehearsals, and the final product, allows for immediate feedback and self-reflection as an actor. 

Budget Narrative

I would like to purchase 2 video cameras to allow each group to record simultaneously. I need top purchase one script per actor, a director/stage manager script and pay for royalties to perform the piece live.
