I would like to provide my students who are gifted and talented a space to feel safe, seen, and heard. Many students are experiencing stress and trauma and a space in which they can feel comfortable often involves flexible
seating arrangements and affirmation areas as well as ‘cool down’ zones when overwhelmed. All aspects of this grant will help support social emotional regulation and prepare students for the modern world.

Goal

I would like to provide my students who are gifted and talented a space to feel safe, seen, and heard. Many students are experiencing stress and trauma and a space in which they can feel comfortable often involves flexible
seating arrangements and affirmation areas as well as ‘cool down’ zones when overwhelmed. All aspects of this grant will help support social emotional regulation and prepare students for the modern world.

What will be done with my students

Students will access a variety of stations. Each station will provide coping skills to deal with stress and overwhelm. Students will have a variety of seating options promoting choice so they can effectively demonstrate their academic abilities.

Benefits to my students

Increased confidence, emotional resilience, visual aids (and supports which allow for self regulation opportunities), reduced stress, increased coping skills.

Describe the Students

Students are ESE: gifted and talented. Performance varies but all have a high IQ. Many students with high IQ are subject to increased emotional sensitivity. A majority demonstrate this trait and experience emotional sensitivity.

Budget Narrative

Supplies for flexible seating and working. Supplies for stations for social emotional regulation.
